Contact Chigger Control

Chiggers are the microscopic larval stage of Trombiculid mites — not insects, but arachnids. They're so small (1/150th of an inch) you can barely see them. Contrary to myth, they don't burrow into skin — they inject digestive enzymes that dissolve skin cells and then feed on the liquefied tissue. The resulting welt and intense itching can last 1-2 weeks.

Chiggers love moist, overgrown areas with tall grass, weeds, and brush. They concentrate in transition zones (edges between mowed lawn and woods), berry patches, unmowed fields, and overgrown landscaping. They're most active in late spring through early fall, especially after rain.

Standard yard treatment: $125-$250 per application. Seasonal package (6 treatments): $600-$1,200. Habitat management: $300-$800 one-time. Most properties need 4-6 treatments per season for complete protection. Free yard evaluation and chigger-risk assessment.

Chigger populations drop 80-90% within 24-48 hours of treatment. The yard is safe for use after the treatment dries (1-2 hours). A monthly treatment schedule during peak season is recommended for continuous protection.

Wear long pants tucked into socks when in tall grass. Use DEET-based repellent on skin and permethrin on clothing. Shower immediately after outdoor activity and wash clothes in hot water. But the best prevention is eliminating chiggers from your property — that's where we come in.
